Library Media Specialist

The mission of the library media program is to provide motivation and encouragement for reading by promoting an appreciation of literature for pleasure, knowledge, and lifelong learning using a variety of resources and strategies.

The Library Media Specialist provides individual and group instruction in order to increase the proficiency of students and staff in the location, evaluation, and use of information resources.

The Library Media Specialist works as a team with the Computer Resource Specialist to facilitate and assist teachers with the effective integration of the State Computer/Technology SOL and Virginia Beach Student Technology Proficiencies.

The Library Media Specialist and the Computer Resource Specialist plan with teachers on a monthly basis to help integrate library resources and technology resources into the Standards of Learning for Virginia.
